Punchout is a technology developed to aid the in facilitation of procurement. This module allows companies to connect from eRequester in real-time to vendor punch out-enabled catalogs, leveraging a standard data format and query protocol (cXML or Commerce Extensible Markup Language).
With Punchout…
Requesters are able "punchout" of the requisition creation to connected vendors' online catalogs to select items via their shopping cart interface that can then be transferred right into the requisition. Key benefits of eRequester Punchout module include:
- No need to maintain item files with current description and price
- POs are automatically transmitted to vendor electronically once created
- Allows for more precise communication between users
- Create a purchase order and a shopping cart at the same time
Why Punchout?
The benefit to buyers is having access to current pricing and catalog information, without having to track this information in their accounting system. It simplifies purchase
order creation and fulfillment using eRequester, as the punchout platform can be leveraged to deliver the approved order back to the vendor via the same protocol.
The benefits to vendors is the ability to transact more easily with customers in a paperless fashion, be able to have customers submitting orders based on real catalog data, as well as deepening their relationship with their customer base.
The eRequester Punchout Module is ideal for organizations where e-procurement is integral to its operations. The Punchout module is available for all eRequester integrated financial systems as well as standalone eRequester. Customers are required to have punchout accounts enabled with any vendors they wish to use to transact with using the Punchout module.
